Hate to bother, but has there been any progress on the broken Facial Animations DU? I'm among those that have working eyes, but no facial expressions, and only on Alyx(The rest work)
well, apparently from what I've heard is for some reason having the Korin model installed somehow has a weird effect on the facial expressions...If you have this installed...then I believe you will at least for now have to remove korin.
I'm not sure why there is a conflict between the two...unless its caused by installing the Nude Alyx over Korin when you had her replacing the original Alyx.
try uninstalling Alyx nude, then move anything remaining files in the /models/ folder to another location...and try reinstalling....and see if this helps. _________________
Yeah, I had Korin installed for awhile, but she was in my /garrysmod/ folder, which is the 7.x version, using /gmod/ folder 8.3b now; tried removing all possible models, korin and alyx, both from all folders, then installing Alyx again, but still no change.
I agree that it must be due in part to Korin though...otherwise it would affect non-Alyx expressions, too. I'll tinker with a few other ideas and post if I find a solution on my own =P
Edit: Tried reinstalling Korin(His site mentions finding and fixing a Facial Animation bug), Korin's expressions worked, exited, removed all traces of Korin and went back to Alyx and started gmod back up, still no luck...however, Korin's source is available on his site, you could compare notes so to speak and see if there's any difference in whatever the expressions file is that could be the cause
Also, while trying Randomized expressions, it said "Unknown Command: expression" in console; don't know if it helps any since it still works on other models and for other people, but figured I'd throw it in too.
interesting....maybe I should redownlod Korin, and see how he has things...I don't want to sound like I'm just pointing fingers at other people for the reason certain things don't work...but I can't understand how the facial expressions could be messed up like that.
all data for what verticies, and the min/max locations for each facial expression is compiled within the mdl on nude alyx...just as its done in the clothed version. If he somehow did it another way...maybe this would be why there's a conflict.
...after checking it out...I still don't know what the problem is....the only thing that I can see as an outward difference to mine is the location of the materials for Korin as compared to the original, and my Alyx....I'm going to see if I can recreate the effect.....but I do have one other question for those who are having problems with the expressions...
is this in both HL2 & gmod? or just gmod? _________________
I hadn't tried HL2 till just now, but yeah, her expressions don't work in either game.
Alyx's head seems a bit off though, sometimes hard to make her face forward without tilting to one side, could it be because it's slightly out of place? Just throwing ideas out

I installed this new Alyx mod, and.... shes NAKED! OMG this is the dirtiest thing I've ever seen! FOR SHAME!
I haven't "played" with Alyx much yet as I have had so many other commitments at the moment, so I can't say that I've had any problems...
I'm sure I'll be letting you know if I have any trouble though.

See the big thing that's really confusing the hell out of me is the fact that at least most people who have downloaded this...including myself..haven't had any problems with neither the model not showing up correctly in gmod...nor the facial expressions not working.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying that these people who are having problems with this are not doing things right...but its still really weird that this is happening _________________
Yeah, I understand =P Problems like this on a computer're common, it's just how they work lol; retail and steam download, korin and nonkorin, gmod only and both gmod and hl2 alike, all possibilities have been checked that I can tell. Only thing I can think of isto compare to Korin's source and/or have a gmod specific compile that goes into the same folders like Korin, I'll test if you decide to try
I think cald may be on to something with some computers potentially having some sort of compatability issue. If this is the case, then likely we will have to rely on the generosity of Valve to fix the problem. On the positive side, if it isn't, then likely we can fix the problem--if there even is a consistant problem. _________________ Nyarlathotep

Ok...I'm going to have to try my best to get to the bottom of this...It just bugs the hell out of me when there's something that doesn't work...that I can't fix...lol
So this is what I'm going to do...to start off I would like anybody who is having this facial expression problem to post the following information...so I can better figure out what I'm dealing with...
1. Country you live in
2. whether your copy of HL2 is retail, or downloaded via steam
3. what HL2 package you bought (bronze, silver, gold..etc..)
4. whether you keep steam running in online mode or not
5. (if applicable) what version of gmod you're using
6. whether this problem only persists in HL2, gmod, or both.
maybe after I get enough people giving me this information I can begin to see a pattern...thanks in advance _________________
